Mulberries and Algebra
June 21st, 2007 by ClaireSince growing up, the Lord has loved me three times with mulberries: once I happened across a tree laden with ripe ones during my tough summer quarter in Chicago; last year on my birthday, and today, taking a walk after classes, reading “To Educate the Human Potential” by Maria Montessori, I came across one and ate my fill.
I “had breakfast” at Colfax again this morning, which was good, then I went to a Bible study/ devotional thing that had been posted on the bulletin board in the dorm. I had prayed on Monday that I find people I can pray with. So I went. There were three other women, the devotional was pretty Evangelical, meaning lots of Biblical phrases without the concrete stories. It was nice overall, though, and at the end the lady who’d invited us asked for prayer needs. One of the others was having knee trouble from a recent car accident, and asked for prayers. I laid hands on her knee, and prayed healing over her. Just a little while ago, the first lady told me that the second lady’s knee was all better. Praise God!
In other good news, I finally got my computer back from the IT guys. They were very, VERY nice, and worked on it yesterday 4:00-5:30 (their work ended at 5), and then again most of today. They reminded me very much of Jeremy. Kind, unassuming, and servant-hearted geeks. So now I’ve spent a very long time uploading a bunch of pictures onto my flickr account
Today we learned about the trinomial cube which is AWESOME. Even Chris M. would have to call it that.
Check out the pictures I took today: couldn’t get enough of it. I’ll have to get all you South Benders to come to school with me in August, and I’ll teach it to you. Laura and Jeremy, it’s far cooler than the Rubix cube.
Tomorrow’s the last day of 3-6 overview, and the last day the dining hall is open ’till Monday. So I’ll be stocking up. D’you know, I paid $1.25 for ONE mint tea bag today? Even though it’s on a point-system card, I don’t think I can ever bring myself to do it again. The rest of the food is good, and I’ve had hummus and fresh veggies for lunch, snack and supper. Variety was never a value for me.
Going to bed now.
I think of my household constantly, and the People of Praise is always on my lips. Other people tell about where they’re from, and how many children they have, but “I’m part of a household, where I live with three other women, and five (or eight, now) men live next door. Where financially in common, and we share three cars…” It’s good to boast of y’all.
