The Lord prepares the way in Indy
This past weekend Mary Timler and I went to visit Jon, Rus and Nick in Indianapolis. We were able to help the guys in their work there. The Lord really prepared the way for us!
On Friday we talked to some women on the IUPUI campus and learned more about what campus life is like. There seemed to be a lot of interest among the students in being a part of a Christian group of the People of Praise. This gave us great hope for our work there! Praise God!
Mary and I also learned a lot about the geography of the city and had some pretty sweet tours. I was surprised at the layout of some of the neighborhoods and their potential for common life. The White river by IUPUI’s campus is beautiful and if it had not been freezing outside we all agreed it would be a great place to bike or rollerblade!
On Saturday night we enjoyed a delicious Lord’s Day at the home of Zyg and Gale Mazanowski, who are in the Indy branch of the People of Praise. I especially loved our conversation during the meal, which consisted of a lot of marine biology and then intense bee attacking stories!
Nick, Rus and Jon are doing a great job there, and the Lord is definitely moving!
Thank God for a great trip!

Great post Trish! Yes, from our trip it was also very clear to me that the Lord is moving in Indy. Admittedly, when we first entered the neighborhood and drove by some “light industrial” plants, I thought “Wait how is this going to work?” As Nick explained more, I soon saw how much the Lord is in our moving into this particular place. There is amazing potential. I began to picture our People of Praise city and it looks great.
I would also like to insert that I left the weekend with a greater love for coffee. I already enjoyed it but after being with 4 missionary coffee enthusiasts, it has a new, special place in my heart. I’ve experienced a certain solidarity this week as I’ve had my morning cup of coffee knowing that my fellow missionaries are also greeting the day in this same way.
Praise God!
